Vasiliki Koniakou

Vasiliki is a postdoctoral researcher in technology governance and human rights at the Athens University of Economics and Business. She holds a Bachelor’s in Law from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, an LL.M. in International, European and Comparative Law, majoring in Information Society, from the University of Turku, and a PhD on Internet governance, digital constitutionalism, and online human rights, funded by the Academy of Finland. Her research focuses on the governance of AI and data-driven systems, digital rights, privacy and data protection, with a particular interest in the EU AI Act and the broader EU digital regulatory agenda. At AUEB, she also serves as IPR Manager at the Technology Transfer Office. She is involved in several EU-funded projects on AI, helping translate legal and ethical principles into practical tools for innovators, startups and SMEs. Combining academic and policy work, she advises organisations on AI compliance, trustworthy and human-centric AI, and the responsible use of data. She is often a speaker and lecturer in academic, professional and policy-making fora, assisting stakeholders in navigating AI regulation and embedding a human-centric, rights-based lens into the design and deployment of emerging technologies.
