Panos Achlioptas is Co-Founder and Senior Scientist at Oumi.ai, where he leads research on the efficiency, scalability, and multimodality of Large Multimodal Models (LMMs). He holds an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University, with work spanning deep learning for vision, language, and 3D understanding. Before founding Oumi.ai, he served as Head of Applied Research at Steel Perlot, worked as a Research Scientist at Snap Inc., and conducted research at FAIR–Meta. His research has been published in top-tier venues such as ICML, CVPR, ECCV, and ICCV, and has garnered wide recognition within the AI research community, including coverage in Forbes, New Scientist, and KCBS. Originally from Greece, Panos is committed to advancing the Greek AI ecosystem. At Oumi.ai he is helping demonstrate that state-of-the-art LLMs and LMMs can be designed, built, and trained with strong teams based in Greece, marking a path for a new generation of Greek-made AI systems.
