George Plevris
Head of Strategic Planning & International Cooperation @ Ministry of Environment & Energy of Greece
George Plevris serves as Head of Strategic Planning and International Cooperation at the Cabinet of the Minister of Environment and Energy of Greece. Prior to that, he was the Strategy & Foresight Manager, Stakeholder Management Lead at Growthfund- Greeceās Sovereign Wealth Fund, focusing on long-term strategic planning, and leading Stakeholder Engagement of the Fund at international and regional level. He has served for many years as Senior Policy Advisor at the Presidency of the Greek Government, Senior Advisor at the Hellenic Parliament, as well as in various other professional roles in the European Commission, United Nations and NGOs, both in Europe and the US. He is a US State Department Programs Alumni. In 2022 he was nominated by the US Embassy and awarded the Transatlantic Inclusive Leaders Network Fellowship, while in 2023 he was awarded the Marshall Memorial Leadership Fellowship of the German Marshall Fund, working on transatlantic cooperation. Mr. Plevris holds a B.A. in European and International Relations, an LLB in Global Law, a premasters in Public Administration, a MSc in Crisis Management and an LLM in Public International Law. In 2025, he received a post-graduate executive certificate from Oxford University, Said Business School, on foresight and scenario-planning.
