Athanasios Zografos

Fractional CAIO @ Upcominds

Thanassis Zografos is Chief AI Officer at Upcominds and advises executive and engineering teams as a fractional CTO. The work centers on a question many organizations are only beginning to ask: what does it take to become structurally ready for AI, rather than simply tooled up for it? That question grows out of more than 15 years building the technology businesses depend on. As VP of Engineering at Sunlight.io, Thanassis scaled the engineering organization roughly fivefold and took its infrastructure platform from proof of concept to a global enterprise product. As Head of Engineering Europe at ZEDEDA, Thanassis led the move to AI-native engineering, where people define the intent and AI accelerates the building, testing and operating. Thanassis also sits on the Technical Steering Committee of LF Edge EVE, an open-source edge computing project under the Linux Foundation. Recent work puts these ideas to the test. Thousands of hours running AI agents on self-owned hardware have produced first-hand data on what autonomous AI really costs, where it fails, and how much oversight it needs. Thanassis is the author of the whitepaper From Authorship to Orchestration, on governing AI agents so their work can be trusted and verified, and speaks on helping leaders decide where AI should run and how far to rely on it.
