Antonios Karampatzos

Dr. Antonios Karampatzos is Professor of Civil Law and Law & Economics at the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Between 2000-2004 he completed his LL.M. and PhD at the Law School of the University of Tübingen (Germany). Following his time in Germany, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies at UCL. He has also been a visiting scholar at the UC Berkeley School of Law in the field of behavioral law and economics, as well as an academic visitor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Oxford in the field of jurisprudence. He has written seven books and published numerous scientific papers in Greek, German, and English. His areas of interest include private law, legal theory, the economic analysis of law, and behavioral economics. His latest book in English is titled Private Law, Nudging and Behavioural Economic Analysis – The Mandated-Choice Model (2020). Professor Karampatzos has participated in many domestic and international legal conferences. He is a member of the Athens Bar Association, with professional interests in international arbitration and the drafting of legal opinions on private law matters. He is also a regular columnist for various Greek newspapers.
